Summer to Fall Series: From Burns to Blooms 1

For many rose gardeners, it is not easy to care for your garden on hot days or look at your roses with heat/pest and disease damage during the summer months. While the scorching heat and mosquitoes can be quite discouraging, remember there's a change up ahead and your roses are trying their best right now to survive the weather.

Be kind, be gentle with them and yourself by lowering expectations can greatly reduce gardening stress during the summer.

In order to keep your spirit up high, I came up with an inspiration to start this new series - Summer to Fall: Burn(ing hot) to Bloom

to inspire, remind, and encourage everyone of the beautiful transition of the season ahead.

I took photos of my roses all year round. It's quite amazing to see such a transformation from seeing how tired/exhausted they looked during the harsh summer/drought in 2023 to how the unusually cool fall set in to help them rise and shine again. That was my 1st and the BEST fall flush of roses since growing them in 2020. Beautiful sights to see.

Aren't these AMAZING transformations?!?! It's hard to believe that they can go from poor looking blooms to gorgeously intense, full and fluffy blooms again. While you may feel discouraged to care for your roses this summer or there are other important obligations to take care of, don't feel guilty if you can't attend to them. Take care of you and things that matter most to you first.

For those who still want to find joy in gardening and have time to care for them, I find that summer rose care is critical in order to nourish them for fall flush. While it is not necessary to fertilize them as much or as often, general care and watering can help them thrive.

I put together many resources on the website which you can find here if you're looking for ways to help you and your roses get through this summer and prepare them for gorgeous fall flushes.

Below guidebooks are NOT ongoing subscription, it's a one-time payment. If you're interested in getting the ongoing support for new rose gardeners, check out Blooming with Joy.

If your roses are thriving and strong this summer, they will reward you with ongoing and abundant fall blooms. Stay tuned for The "From Burn to Blooms Part 2".
